About Urban Kitchen Handmade
Helene & Jim Matteson, makers and owners of Urban Kitchen Handmade
“Urban Kitchen Handmade began from our kitchen in Boston. It all started with Helene making handmade soap after discovering the benefits it had on improving her own skin. After making her first batch of soap, she was hooked. Soon after, in 2005, we began selling our handmade soaps at local markets like SOWA and other craft shows. We expanded into a full-time business in 2008 when we moved to into our production studio in Allston.
The products we create and sell today include handmade soap, soy candles, personal care products, unique accessories, natural perfumes, body butters, massage oils, bath bombs, room sprays, sachets and more!
In our products, we use natural plant-based oils and butters such as coconut, olive, sweet almond & jojoba. We also utilize shea, cocoa, and mango butter. To give each product its unique quality, scent, and visual appeal, we incorporate a wide variety of clays, herbs and essential oil blends.
Our mission and commitment is to create and produce unique, appealing, high quality handmade products offered at affordable prices.”
Have you participated in the Egleston Market before?
Yes, in 2017 and the previous winter markets.
What draws you back to the market year after year?
As a resident of Jamaica Plain I appreciate the support of our community.
